This post collects the numbers in the paper that relate to modulator performance. All values follow the measurements reported in the example paper .
Measurement conditions
The experiment used a continuous-wave laser as the light source and measured the 3 dB electro-optic bandwidth and the half-wave voltage. Below is the small script I used for the conversion:
import numpy as np
def bandwidth_ghz(f3db_hz: float) -> float:
"""Convert 3 dB bandwidth from Hz to GHz"""
return f3db_hz / 1e9
vpi = 2.5 # V, half-wave voltage
print(bandwidth_ghz(67e9), vpi * np.pi)
Bandwidth
The reported bandwidth is higher than that of comparable silicon photonic modulators, but the load impedance during measurement differs, so compare with care.
Drive voltage
Half-wave voltage is inversely proportional to electrode length, which is the heart of the design trade-off.
Conclusion
Measured numbers can be cited, but comparisons across papers require aligning the measurement conditions first.
